1st international BINA Workshop under Indo-Belgian Research and Technology Cooperation
Sponsored by DST, Govt. of India and BELSPO, Govt. of Belgium

Instrumentation and Science with the 3.6-m DOT and 4.0-m ILMT telescopes

ARIES, Manora Peak, Nainital 15-18 November 2016

This first workshop will address research topics in the Solar system as well as detailed studies of galactic and extragalactic celestial objects using forthcoming observations with the 3.6-m DOT and 4.0-m ILMT at Devasthal. The proposed meeting will provide an opportunity to stimulate close interactions between Indian and Belgian scientists working in the areas of star formation, star clusters, asteroseismology, binaries, massive stars, abundance studies, galaxies, active galactic nuclei, quasars, gravitational lens systems, space debris and ground-based support for spatial missions such as ASTROSAT and many others.  Access to the 4-m class telescopes in the northern hemisphere will benefit to several research themes of shared interest between the Belgian and Indian partners of the network. During this workshop, we also expect to generate new ideas in order to design modern back-end instruments to perform cutting edge science.
